does lime wire or frost wire cause viruses on a mac?
i had lime wire on my pc and it crashed and supposedly macs cant crash so im wondering if thats true or not
I’ve had Macs crash on me – no computer is entirely immune from this.
There are also viruses for mac, although they’re VERY Very Rare.
Finally, Limewire or Frost Wire don’t “cause viruses” – it’s the files you’re downloading that have the viruses in them.
ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS scan anything you download from the internet for viruses.
When choosing files to download, try to use some smarts. If you’re downloading music, for instance, it’s not going to have a file extension of .exe (which is a program – not music) Know what the common file extensions are, and what they mean.
If you’re in doubt about a file being legitimate, DON’T DOUBLE CLICK ON IT. Instead, try opening the file with the application. For instance, use your media player to try and open a file you think is a music file. Even if the file is a virus, it won’t infect your computer in this way. The player will simply tell you this isn’t a file format it recognizes.
